Sparkling Water Decaf Home Compostable Coffee Pods

We believe great decaf coffee should be accessible, no matter how you brew it, so we've simplified things.

Our new Nespresso® compatible pods contain the same specialty decaf coffee you know and love, with all the convenience of pushing a single button.

Our Sparkling Water Decaf Coffee was a must when creating our pods. They have all the flavour and none of the caffeine, it's a tasty Peruvian coffee through and through.

When using our Sparkling-Water Decaf Home Compostable Coffee Pods, we recommend a 35-40ml shot to replicate a traditional espresso, or a longer 80-90ml brew if you really want to savour it.

Oh, and did we mention? Our Nespresso® compatible pods are fully home compostable. They'll be gone in 6 months when you're done with them (and here's the proof). You're welcome.

    Chachapoyas, Jaén

Smallholder farmers from the Chirinos and Huabal districts come together to deliver their coffee to a central dry mill.
This lot is named after the city Chachapoyas, which is the capital of the neighbouring Amazonas region.

    Chocolatey & Sweet

We give a lot of love and attention to our decaf coffees, and want them to taste just like their caffeinated counterparts. Like any good Peruvian coffee, you can expect notes of caramelised brown sugar, cocoa, and a cherry-like sweetness.

    Sparkling Water Decaf Coffee

    1. The green beans are soaked / cleaned in water, this allows the pores to open up as the beans expand and the caffeine to become mobile.
    2. Pressured Carbon Dioxide is introduced, this combined with the present water creates sparkling water. The CO2 acts like a magnet to the caffeine molecules, extracting it from the beans.
    3. The water is then drained into an evaporator which precipitates the caffeine rich carbon dioxide out of the water
    4. This cycle is repeated until the caffeine level is low enough to be classified as decaf
    5. The decaffeinated coffee beans are then gently dried until it reaches its original moisture content and is then ready for roasting.

No caffeine, but no lack of flavour. This decaf likes to spend its time in the roaster, getting nicely developed without getting too bitter. The chemical-free decaffeination process means you'll still be able to enjoy the origin characteristics of this Peruvian coffee.

    About Our Pods

    TRULY HOME COMPOSTABLE

Part of our mission as a coffee company is to create an accessible specialty coffee experience, without any unneccessary impact on the environment. When developing our pods, the holy grail was pod that you can pop in your own compost, food waste, or even in your plant pots!

We searched high and low for the right solution, so that when we unveiled our pods to the world, we could be confident we were doing it the right way. Read more about our development process below.

Yes! Our pods are truly home compostable, which means they don't need to be sent to an industrial compost facility. When you're done brewing, there are several options to dispose of your coffee pods. As they're full of nitrogen-rich coffee grounds, they're ideal for the garden.

Pop them in your compost or dig them into plant pots or raised beds - whatever you choose to do, they'll be gone in six months. Read more here.

Our specialty coffee pods are are made from biopolymers and organic matter such as cereals. They're sourced locally, when possible, from the fields around the Vegeplast manufacturing plant in the south of France. VegeCap pods do not contain any petrol-based plastic nor BTA or PFC.

Our coffee pods are Nespresso® compatible, so they're great with a huge range of machines (including the OPAL). You could even take a box of them with you to hotels, or to relatives who might need to up their coffee game!

It takes just six months for our coffee pods to decompose in your home compost. We suggest having a ratio of about 1/3 'wet' materials (fruit and veg scraps, grass cuttings, garden waste) and 2/3 'dry' waste (dry grass, potting soil, dried leaves, eggshells etc). The pods have been certified as 'OK Home Compostable' by TUV Austria.

We do indeed! Whether it's the Rich Roast, our Sparkling Water Decaf, or a bright and juicy option from Rwanda, our home compostable pods are the easiest way to enjoy our coffee yet.
